Every year on Memorial Day, thousands of people gather at Magic Island at Ala Moana Beach Park to honor ancestors and loved ones who have passed away. At sundown, more than 7,000 candlelit lanterns are set afloat on the ocean, a traditional Buddhist rite originating in Japan. The ceremony serves to honor those who have sacrificed their lives in war, pay respect to ancestors and loved ones who have passed away, and pray for a harmonious and peaceful future. Annual King Kamehameha Celebration Floral Parade Celebrating yearly, this colorful celebration honors the reign of King Kamehameha, who was responsible for uniting the Hawaiian Islands under his rule in 1810. The parade goes right past the DoubleTree Alana Hotel down Kalakaua Avenue and ends at Kapiolani Park. It starts at Iolani Palace at 9am and ends at 1pm.

Honolulu Century Ride
The Honolulu Century Ride is Hawai‘i’s oldest and largest cycling event, attracting approximately 4,000 people around the world each year. This annual Moloka‘i Hoe, one of the longest running annual team sporting events in Hawai‘i, second only to football. HONOLULU PRIDE Parade
Rainbows over Waikiki kicks off HONOLULU PRIDE with the hanging of 160 ten-foot-tall rainbow banners through Waikīkī. Thousands of runners from around the world travel to O‘ahu each year to participate in the Honolulu Marathon.
